Giant Brown Kelp

Original acrylic painting on glass finished with resin. This is a very unique piece that was created by carefully cutting out pieces of acrylic "skin" and then meticulously placing them in layers to create this ethereal botanical piece. This piece has both smooth and textured areas. I wanted to create as much movement in the kelp has possible so I created folds, ripples, and waves in the kelp blades where it come out of the smooth resin.
